The Story Behind the Lens

I'm Samantha, a 22-year-old photographer originally from Long Island, New York, where I grew up spending summers at the beach and grabbing breakfast sandwiches from my local deli — which is probably where I get my love for capturing anything that feels easygoing and real.

I picked up my first camera when I was 12, just a small Canon PowerShot and digital video camera, and I've been shooting ever since. I worked my way up through a Canon Rebel T6 and learned the basics in a high school photography class before switching over to Sony in 2024, which is when I really fell back in love with it all.

I started in sports (even filming on a GoPro at one point), got into car photography soon after, and now I've been pushing myself into portraits — focusing on capturing people in a way that actually feels natural and not forced.

Outside of photography, I'm heading into my senior year at Marywood studying respiratory therapy, balancing school, work, and shooting. I genuinely love having both sides of that in my life. I also have two dogs who keep things a little chaotic.

A big goal of mine right now is just to keep growing, getting better, and working with people who want photos that feel like them.
